As part of the wellness program at Spa Catawba, we are excited to offer a variety of yoga and group classes which support our mission of transforming wellness on the North coast. Each class provides unique activities all designed to restore your mind, body and spirit. Our goal is to help you stay active through a variety of exercises, each designed to improve muscular strength, range of movement and functional fitness to enhance your daily living. Each class offers you something different, try one or try them all. Group classes provide an opportunity of camaraderie and community support through physical movement and mental wellbeing.
All class props are provided, including yoga mats, blocks, straps and blankets. You may choose to bring water and a hand towel.
We encourage all participants to consult with a physician prior to participation in any of the classes offered by Spa Catawba.
Stretch and Flow “With a Twist” > Level 1 – Beginner Level – Start your week off right with this “detox-focused” gentle class including foundational poses, moving meditation and an extra “splash” of twists.
Vinyasa Flow > Level 1 – Beginner Level – Gentle flow based class focused on connecting movements with the rhythm of your breath. This flow class is suitable for anyone.
Vinyasa Flow > Level 2 – Intermediate Level – For the experienced Yogi or those newer to yoga looking to expand their practice. Your instructor guides you to expand your yoga practice in this moving meditation, matching breath with movement, building strength and endurance.
Slow Flow and Deep Stretch > Level 1-2 – Beginner to Intermediate Level with modifications offered – Flow based moving meditation to warm the muscles followed by holding a series of poses to facilitate deeper work into the connective tissue.
Gentle Stretch and Flow > Level 1 – Beginner Level – Enjoy gentle movement and foundational poses in the relaxing vinyasa flow class. Calm the mind while you move and stretch the body.
Level 1 > Beginner – This level of class guides you slowly through many basic yoga asanas and breath work. While it is suitable for beginners, it is also for those working on the finer points of alignment in basic postures. Focus will be on safety and alignment making the yogi more comfortable and familiar with common yoga postures.
Level 2 > Intermediate – This level of class assumes a working knowledge of basic yoga asanas. While still focusing on safety and alignment, the flow (movements) will be quicker than a Level 1 class. Stamina will be tested as you hold balance postures in this level.
